We're hiring a Postdoc to join the ROAR team!

Postdoc Position – Design and Validation of Open-Source Reading Comprehension Measures

The Language to Literacy Research Lab, P.I. Dr. Rebecca Silverman, and the Brain Development & Education Lab, P.I. Dr. Jason Yeatman, bridge cutting-edge research and practice around language and literacy development. We are excited to announce our search for a postdoctoral fellow to lead the development of reading and language comprehension assessments!

A cross-disciplinary team, we are using innovations from education, psychometrics, and neuroscience research and insights from our dedicated practitioner partners to develop the Rapid Online Assessment of Reading (ROAR).  The ROAR is an open-source assessment platform that reduces barriers and empowers teachers to target reading skills across a classroom of diverse learners, from early childhood through high school. Our goal is to provide teachers across the country with valid, reliable, automated, open-access, evidence-based tools that quickly provide them with the data they need to intervene on specific reading skills. We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow with expertise in language and reading comprehension development and assessment to lead the development of new reading comprehension assessments.

The successful candidate for this position will lead the development, testing, and analyses of language and comprehension-related measures that will be used for research and screening in schools. The postdoctoral fellow will work directly with and receive mentorship from Drs. Rebecca Silverman and Jason Yeatman. They will support dissemination of ROAR-related research through academic publications and communication for public audiences (administrators, teachers, parents, and the general public). The position will be funded for two years, with the opportunity for extension.

To apply for this position, please send a letter of interest and a CV to rdsilver@stanford.edu and jyeatman@stanford.edu. Review of applications will begin immediately with an anticipated start date in summer of 2023.
